Hard work, time-management, self-confidence. Inculcate all these traits and reserve your berth in the premier, second to none management centre- Indian Institute of Management.

This was the suggestion of the graduates of the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, who on Saturday received their diplomas during the convocation ceremony organised at the institute.

‘‘There is no substitute to hard work,’’ stressed Jaya Jha, the topper of Post Graduate Programmes (PGPs) of IIML.

With dedication in studies coupled with systematic planning, one can get the ticket to IIM, she added. Jaya hails from Bihar and opted for management studies after completing her B.Tech from IIT Kanpur.

In this 20th batch of IIML, 236 students have successfully completed their Post Graduate Programmes (PGPs). Whereas, 13 students passed the new course in Agri Business Management and three students completed the Fellow Programme (FP) being offered by the institute.

Present on the occasion was chief guest Brij Mohan Lall Munjaji, chairman of Hero group, who, lauding Jaya for her decision to opt out from the campus placement said, ‘‘Like Jaya, other students should also take the initiative to become an entrepreneur and should work to raise the living standards of the downtrodden.’’

Sharing his varied experience as a corporate honcho he said, ‘‘Do not forget the value of time as there is also an economic dimension attached to it.

Even the best of ideas and plans have little value unless implemented effectively in time.’’ He emphasised that integrity including honesty is the key to reach the top in whatever domain one chooses.

He called upon the students to work for raising socio and economic parametres like literacy, poverty, savings and investment ratios.
Director IIML, Devi Singh was also present during the convocation ceremony.

For the graduating students he suggested, ‘‘Do not allow yourselves to be lured by the temptation of a shortcut. It will not help in the long run.

Have faith in yourself and the almighty and dedicate yourself completely to task you choose. You will definitely achieve the eluding success.’’
